“‘Open Orchestras is a perfect example of how partnership working and co-design can create the best outcomes from the young people we serve. The inclusive way of working and blending of “traditional instruments”, voices, and technology is particularly innovative and something which inspires us with new approaches to all our offer.

Your students can be part of the largest inclusive ensemble programme in the UK!

Open Orchestras is an adventure in music that’s made possible through partnership work. We’ll help you do more with music, giving young disabled students the opportunity to be creative with it, play music they’ve shaped, and show their community what they can do!

Talk to your team about starting your Open Orchestra now, so you can plan and get ready for the academic year 2024/25.

Here are key dates for your calendar. Together, we can make your Open Orchestra happen!

November 2023 – Join our Discovery webinar

We look forward to meeting you virtually to share important points about the programme. During this one-hour online webinar, we’ll give you all the information you need to start planning your Open Orchestra. We’ll cover staffing, resources, how Open Orchestras can help build a partnership between schools and Music Hubs, and of course answer your questions. Open Orchestra members often join us to share their experience too.

March – May 2024 – It’s time to register!

Register to enrol into the programme, so you can start offering inclusive ensemble music making to your students from September 2024.

June 2024: Online Induction Training

Your Open Orchestra team starts familiarising themselves with our award-winning programme, completing modules at their own pace. They will also join the Open Orchestras online community and get access to Clarion.

September 2024: Welcome your Open Orchestras students

Let the music begin! Your orchestra sessions start along with your Year 1 training and mentoring programme. Get ready for exciting first times.

Young disabled musicians are shown playing notes represented in different ways, through coloured shapes on a screen, and Open Orchestras' bespoke notation system.
